We have StruxuWare Data Center Expert 7.3.1 running on a VM. A few days ago, two units with alerts already active (Maximum Value - Battery Age) flooded email alerts non-stop - constantly - approx 15-20 a second, until the recipients emails were full. Unfortunately, I was off and the decision was made to shut the server down until I could get in. When I brought the server back up, it stopped sending those alerts, and everything appeared to be fine. It has been running for three days now just fine.
The email alerts it was blasting out was the Battery Age alert, which was valid, but in the Alert Level field, it displayed the description of the alert followed by "repeat 32556". Has anyone else ran into this, or knows what caused this? The only thing I can think of is that the server or a service on the server locked up, and blasted out already active alerts in response to it locking up. Our CIO was not too pleased about having his email fill up over the weekend and don't want this to happen again if it can be prevented.

Hi Mike,
The first thing to do if you've not done so already is to reboot the server. As for ensuring it will never happen again, there is no resolution for this at this time other than rebooting. It appears to happen after a years time or some time within that period so if you reboot the server at least once every 6 months, you should not see the issue. I also recommend staying up to date on the releases. We are at 7.4.3 now which is not a huge jump. It also does not resolve your issue.
I will add this post to the bug listing for the issue. I'll let you know if they want more info but since it's happened a few times, they likely have the customer data they need.
Thanks,
Steve.

I have also seen this on 3 occasions on 3 different servers. The only fix was to reboot the server although to be fair the priority in every case was to stop the emails, not identify exactly what caused it.
I know this response doesn't help identify the exact cause but it shows it is not a one off...
