Hi
I have a cabinet with a ATS AP7722 which is powered by two APC PDU's AP8853 conected to different UPS's. The output of the AP7722 ATS feeds to a rack mount PDU.
how can I configure this power dependence in DCO
Best regards

Hi Norberto
Unfortunately the power modeling in DCO does not support Rack ATSs very well. You can model the ATS, but it cannot be a part of the power path. I think the suggested workaround is to model two power inlets on the servers and connect them to two rack PDUs each power by the two feeds that would power the ATS. The drawback obviously is that you model equipment you don't have. The upside is that the power calculations are in line with what you would expect.
Jef Faridi do you know of any other workarounds?
Best,
Niels

Hi Niels, I think your suggestion would be the best workaround I could be aware of. A similar workaround/tip is also shared: Best practice: Work around for modelling rack ATS I would also like to mention that we have a registered feature request in our system (to model rack ATS as power device) – I will go ahead and add a note that Norberto is also interested in that feature, thanks. Kind regards

Hi Jef,
We are also interested in this feature (to model rack ATS as power device in order to get the full power path from the PDU to the devices connected on the ATS device). Please let me know when it is released.
Kind Regards

Jef,
Have there been any improvements with this recently?
Thank you,

Hi John,
The power cabling of rack ATS device is supported in the latest version(s) of DCO, however by design only one rack ATS can be connected to pair of rack pdu's. This limitation is basically because of the predicted power and power sold estimated load strategy, they treat primary and secondary rack pdu's as if they were paired. One rack pdu cannot be paired multiples times.
Kind regards

Alternative solution could be to create custom equipment using generic floor standing ATS, but give it really small floor dimensions. The power path would look correct, you just have something extra on the floor plan.
Video Tutorial about modelling power path with ATS is here: How to model distributed redundant UPS configurations
