It takes 45+ seconds to launch DCO. My peers in other countries and states experience the same lengthy launch time. How can we speed up the application from the time we click the icon?

The launch time may be a bit on the lengthy side but a large solution will take more time to load than a smaller one. Besides ensuring that your computer fulfills the system requirements, also ensure that the network connection between the client and the server is high quality, i.e., try to avoid (poor) WiFi connections if at all possible.
DCO remembers the rooms that were open before the previous shutdown so unless you need to work in the same rooms, close the rooms before exiting DCO.

Hello All, Please bear with me on my first response on this but with all due respect Martin, that's rubbish.
We have 4 rooms with a total of 120 racks. It still takes 45+ seconds to load up. Even with no rooms are opening. longer if it then goes onto open up rooms as well.
While it is 'advertised' to remember the room(s) that were open when you logged out this seems to be very hit and miss, with 'some' of the last rooms opening up again and others not.
Lastly, the only way we have been able to speed things up is to avoid SSL like the plague. If you don't have to use it, don't. Will grind it to a halt at loading and on operations.
My two cents.
Craig

Hi Graig,
Sorry to hear you find Martins answer rubbish. We would very much prefer to keep the tone of conversation professional, which is also what I read in general in the answer you provide.
I would like to understand the issue you are experiencing with open rooms when launching the client. As Martin stated the room left open when closing the client on a specific computer are the once that will be opened again when reopening the client using the same login and the same client computer. I will contact you directly in order to understand your setup.
In regards to the load time. Some initial tests show that a load time of 45 seconds on a 120 rack solution loading a room with 20 racks using SSL on Windows is what is to be considered normal load time. However it also seems like in our test setup there is a difference between using SSL and not using SSL and we will investigate why that is so.

In regards to the rooms that are not loaded after client restart even if open when closing the client we have found that this is related to a small issue in our software. It happen when there is a power path connection across rooms. This has now been fixed and will be available with our next release going out. The difference in load-times using SSL and not is still being investigated.

Hi Soren, Which release will have the fix? We have recently updated to 7.4.5 and have the same launch times. Thanks

Sean, is it only the load time or is the general speed of the application (once loaded) acceptable?

It is hard explaining to new users that the start time for DCO is long. My experience on a 32 bit system is: 3 minutes 12 seconds (with SSL) 1 minute 59 seconds (without SSL) 2 minutes 39 seconds (without SSL after shutting down DCO and restarting a second time) My colleague on a 64 bit version can perhaps halve these times - but they are still long load times. Just for clarity, this was with 3 different rooms loading - no more than 150 racks. In any case the rooms loaded do not seem to make a lot of difference. I know our server is well specced and there is no problems with our high bandwidth wired network connection. If the start up time was speeded up it would help bring more users in from the cold.
