2N redundancy calculation issues

Hello,

I have looked through out the community & through the tutorial, but no answer to the 2N redundancy problems. I have removed all the breakers I could, but it didn`t help.

Measurement calculation is "predicted value".

  1. If I use 2 UPS with real power it shows double the power - I tried to solve this with droping the power to 50% of real power, but no use, something comes out red(in alarm)
  2. The load in 2N redundancy on racks & equipment is shown double the real value because the load is shown as sum of estimated load & failower load on both paths & then total capacity is 50% instead of 25%.
  3. Whatever I do the cooling capcity always gives me error with calculations & I get message: "Insufficient cooling, so the temparatures may be inacurate." I have even removed rised floor & droped ceilling from the rooms.

Setup is:

UPS - 2 X 100kVA PF 1 (dropped to 50%)

Cooling units InRow - 4 X 37.5 kW

Rack enclosures - 18 pcs - design limit 6,25kW

PDU AP8553 - 36 pcs

Measured load per UPS: UPS A - 10002 W , UPS B 9850 W.

Displayed: Capacity : 200 kW(50%now = 100 kW), Load 49 kW.

I need to finish the calculations by monday, but I can`t get the right display calculation.

Biggest problem is that I can`t get calculation instantly, but have to wait 24 hours for KPI to calculate.

Help please.

Hi Boris,

Depending on complexity of the modeled equipment, redundancy settings, power path settings etc. the capacity calculations can get quite complex. Following pages (and other related pages) contain detail description that may help us to understand how the software works:

Power redundancy

Configuring distributed redundant UPS systems

Redundancy examples

Just a thought, you do not need to reduce the power capacity of the modeled  UPS's, just set them to their full capacity.

And for the cooling simulation, that seems to be configuration related, and/or at least just a notification concerning the accuracy of the temperature map. If adding some temperature sensors (from the integrated external system/DCE) could be an option, then running the 3D view on Measured plane would give us more realistic picture of the data center.

Kind regards

Hi Jef,

I had to complete some other projects. But the troubleshooting topics didn`t help.

Also the big problem is that it takes 30 days to see if the calculations will be right.

The problem is that I get the cooling insufficient for this case.

I don`t want to see this error message in DCO.

For 200 kW in 2N instalation( A feed & B feed) with power distributed redundant in rack enclosures the 150 kw cooling has to be more  than enough.

What can I do. Now also the simple PUE scale is going wild. It is not set on the value that is shown on web, but shows over 5(points to 6 o`clock)

Hi Jef,

Problem is that Customer would like to se the project calculations.

For this numbers should be:

Max load: 100 kW

Current load:  22 kW / 22%

With this calculation I should`nt get cooling insufficient error. Because cooling power is 150 kw.

Here is the pic with sensors, is this enough sensors? Also there are sensors in cooling units.
