The credentials for FTP/SCP that are stored in the Device Configuration and Firmware Updates section of the Gateway are credentials that could potentially be used to connect to any device via FTP/SCP that is discovered by the gateway.
If you add a new set of credentials or modify an existing set of credentials you will need to rerun a discovery (no need to delete the device) and the new set of credentials will be used. This means that when the discoveries are ran, the Gateway will determine which set of credentials works for a device.
Just a note that if you end up with a lot of credentials in your list, it is recommended to change the discovery settings for Configure credentials to only have the specific set of credentials selected that apply to the device.
