EcoStruxure IT Expert uses SNMP to pull device data including the Last Battery Replacement date that is used in the UPS Score assessment.

It is best practice to update this setting to make sure that IT Expert uses the most up-to-date information to correctly analyze and score data in the UPS Score assessment.

How to update Last Battery Replacement Date in IT Expert

IT Expert Administrator users can update the battery date on APC SNMP devices that support config.ini.

See Single device configuration

Otherwise, you can manually update this setting in the UPS’s Network Management Card (NMC).

How to update Last Battery Replacement Date in the NMC web interface

  1. Open a browser and navigate to the IP address of the UPS’s NMC.

  2. Enter the administrator username and password.

  3. Go to Configuration > UPS.
Note: For 5.x firmware and older, go to UPS  > Configuration > general.
To get the latest features and improve security, consider updating your device firmware to the latest version. See Device configuration

  4. Update the Last Battery Replacement date with the correct date.

  5. Select Apply to save the new setting.

Is the Last Battery Replacement option missing from the NMC web interface?

Unfortunately, there are UPS NMCs that lack the Last Battery Replacement date option in their user interface. For these devices, use FTP to update the data directly in the config.ini file:

  1. Open a command window and enter the command: ftp <IP Address of the NMC>

  2. Enter Administrator username and password.

    ITE_UPS_battery_replacement_date_3_360011216218.pngITE_UPS_battery_replacement_date_3_360011216218.png

  3. Enter the command: get config.ini

    ITE_UPS_battery_replacement_date_4_360011216218.pngITE_UPS_battery_replacement_date_4_360011216218.png

FTP will download the config.ini into the current working directory.

  4. Use File Explorer to navigate to the working directory.

  5. Open the config.ini file with a text editor.

  6. Use CTRL+F to find BatteryDate in the file.

  7. Change the date after = using the xx/xx/xxxx format:

    ITE_UPS_battery_replacement_date_6_360011216218.pngITE_UPS_battery_replacement_date_6_360011216218.png

  8. Save the file.

  9. Go back to the command window. If the session has ended, log in again (follow steps 1-4).

  10. Enter the command: put and then drag and drop the config.ini file into the command window.

    ITE_UPS_battery_replacement_date_5_360011216218.pngITE_UPS_battery_replacement_date_5_360011216218.png

  11. Once file transfer has completed, enter the command: bye

The next time EcoStruxure IT Expert polls the UPS, it will update the last battery replacement date. Please allow 24 hours for the UPS Score assessment to reflect the correct dates.
