[Imported] DNP3 Backfilling

>>Message imported from previous forum - Category:ClearSCADA Software<<

Good day. It's me again.

I would like to know how to configure DNP3 clearscada backfilling. My employer told me it had something to do with checking unsolicited messages but I've already had it ticked off but the backfilling still hasn't occurred. I would appreciate any help.

Thank you very much.

Hello, my partner and I found an error in SCADAPack E Config that says:
System Error Code: 1031
System Error Description: Event Data Lost. An RTU event buffer has overflowed resulting in loss of data.

What do you think we should do? Any help would be very much appreciated.

Events aren't necessarily sent back to SCADA straight away, they will be stored and will attempt to send them when the limits set on the DNP3 Events property page are reached or when it receives a poll for that class. If comms to SCADA is not healthy then it will continue to store them until the event buffer gets full, at which point the buffer overflow and some data is lost.

I'm guessing that you have Default Enabled Event Classes set to No Classes, the outstation in ClearSCADA is not set to enable unsolicited, and you're not polling all classes often enough.

I actually have Default Enabled Event Classes set to Class 1, 2, 3 and the outstation is set to enable unsolicited, and my classes have scheduling polled enabled, but all have the same interval of 5S.

Is you SCADA Master address set the same on both ClearSCADA and the SCADAPack?

Yes, it is.

There's been a progress. The backfill actually worked when I set the timezone to local time (just as my partner set his scadapack rtu to local time)and it backfilled! However, there's something wrong with it because while rtu feeds clearscada values, my historic trend creates' current data for future', as far as I can remember that's how it said but you get the gist of it. Basically, my trend for a certain parameter already has a data on the trend that's currently four hours in advanced (e.g. it's currently 11AM but my trend shows it has data lined up until 3PM) but my current data 'corrects' it on the way.

However, when we enabled our feature of Target Scheduling, the local time blocks the feature from working, and we are forced to turn back to UTC for timezone. That's when the backfill doesn't work anymore. So, basically, we're at loss on what to do. I would appreciate any help.

Thank you all.

Wish I knew the solution for you. We use UTC and it works fine for us. Now DST is a problem. you have to leave that turned off on the computer or everything is off by an hour. We however do not use Targeted Scheduling. Ours are on 4G cellular or fiber and we just periodically poll the Classes and the SCADAPack sends data when its buffers fill.
If we lose connection it back fills when we reconnect.
Years ago there was a firmware issue when a SCADAPack would quit sending data, only thing it sent was it was online. A reboot would fix it for a while. Of course they fixed it in a new firmware. So maybe try a newer or slightly older firmware to see if the firmware is the problem.
