Good day, a customer has sent out an RFQ to upgrade their SCADA system from ClearSCADA 2009 to the latest Geo SCADA. Would it be possible to transfer the historical data from the old system to the new system?
Thanks, Hartmut

I have done what Andrew is suggesting many times and it keeps all the history just fine that way.
the 2009 version default location for the Database folder is C:\ProgramData\ControlMicrosystems\ClearSCADA\and copying it to the new computer at C:\ProgramData\Schneider Electric\ClearSCADA\ or to your custom location if you changed the file locations, in the server configuration, works just fine.

I will try copying the .hrd files from ClearSCADA 2009 to Geo SCADA. The new database will be an import from the old database. So, the new configuration for historical data should be compatible with the old .hrd files.

If the upgrade is also moving to a new machine then you need to copy the entire database (by default "C:\ProgramData\Schneider Electric\ClearSCADA\DB" folder) from the old machine to the new machine (whilst ClearSCADA / Geo SCADA server is shutdown on both machines).
Importing the old database (from an SDE file) will renumber all of the object IDs so they won't match the IDs in the raw historic data on disk (the folders containing the HRD files).

Andrew mentioned this, but when you say the new database will be an import from the old database, proceed with caution. Historical data is all maintained by the object ID number. When you import an SDE into a new DB, all of the ID's change, thus all of your history will make little to no sense (if at all).
What Andrew is suggesting is to just keep the old DB files in the same location as the DB on the new system, start it up, and let Geo SCADA convert it all.
