Bit access and manipulation of OPC integer/word tag

Is there a neat way to access and manipulate bits in an integer or word tags originated from an OPC server (Geo SCADA being the OPC client).

Both the OPC DA drivers allow you to specify which bits of an integer item are used for a digital point's value, see Number of Bits and Bit Offset settings:
