Issue

Using a Sigma DNN (Distributed Network Node) as a repeater

Environment

Satchwell Sigma ARCnet communications

Cause

There is no repeater in the Sigma products range to increase the maximum distance of a Sigma ARCnet LAN.

See below tables for the maximum distances for various baud rates. 

Resolution

From an additional Sigma DNN on the backbone LAN, an ARCnet cable is run for up to x number of meters (distance depends on the baud rate and cable used) to another Sigma DNN (DNN port1 to Sigma DNN port6).

Note:

• No Sigma controllers on the joining LAN.
• DNN has to be dual trunk version
