Using a Sigma DNN (Distributed Network Node) as a repeater

Issue

There is no dedicated repeater available in the Sigma product range to extend the maximum distance of a Sigma ARCnet LAN.

Cause

Sigma does not offer a standalone repeater device. Therefore, alternative methods must be used to extend ARCNET LAN distances beyond standard limitations.

Resolution

To extend the ARCNET LAN:

1. Use an additional Sigma DNN on the backbone LAN.
2. Connect an ARCNET cable from the first DNN (port 1) to a second Sigma DNN (port 6).
3. Ensure no Sigma controllers are present on the joining LAN segment.
4. The DNN used must be a dual trunk version to support this configuration.
