Cause
This issue typically occurs when a large image file is used as the background in a Sigma graphic. Local clients, especially those running on older hardware (e.g., netbooks or underpowered laptops), may lack the graphics processing capability to render these images properly. In contrast, remote clients or web clients offload rendering to more capable systems or servers.
Resolution
Recommended Actions:
-
Check Hardware Specifications:
- Ensure the local machine has a dedicated graphics adapter.
- Recommended: 1GB graphics adapter supporting DirectX 11 (for Windows 7 systems).
-
Reduce Graphic File Size:
- If upgrading hardware is not feasible, optimize or reduce the size of the background image files used in Sigma graphics.
-
Avoid Unsupported Devices:
- Netbooks, servers, and low-spec machines are not supported for Sigma client graphics rendering.
- Consider replacing the PC with a modern workstation that meets or exceeds the recommended specifications.
Additional Notes
- Most modern workstations can handle Sigma graphics without issue.
- Server-class machines are generally not suitable for running Sigma clients due to limited graphics capabilities.
- Users may also experience performance issues (e.g., slow loading, lag during editing) if the hardware is underpowered.
