Issue
What is the role of the master node in a Vista network?
Product Line
TAC Vista
Environment
Vista server
Cause
In a network with several nodes (Operator units), one node is designated as the Master node of the database in the network
Resolution
The Master node is the node which contains the correct information about global objects.
Information about global objects is controlled by the Master node, and if the information has changed, the other nodes (Slave nodes) will copy this information when they contact the Master node. So if the master is down the slaves cannot add/delete any global objects such as users.
The other nodes will continue working normally even if the master is down.
