Issue

To downgrade an Automation Server, a DFU procedure must be performed on the device

Product Line

EcoStruxure Building Operation

Environment

  • Automation Server

Cause

When deploying a 'New Database' to an Automation Server, the controller must first be cleared of existing data. The firmware is then reloaded with a blank database image. This process may require placing the device into DFU mode to complete the installation successfully.

Resolution

To reset an automation server to DFU mode:

  1. Start the Device Administrator. For more information, see Connecting to an Automation Server Using the USB Device Port .

  2. On the automation server, press the Reset button 3 times within 2 seconds.

  3. Use a USB cable to connect the USB device port on the automation server with a USB port on the PC.

  4. Ensure that the automation server is displayed in the list and DFU mode is displayed in the Device status column.

The automation server is now ready for the upgrade procedure. For more information, see Uploading and Upgrading a Field Server .
