Issue
Configuring a UNC 532 outstation to operate with both a modem and a BAS 2800+ terminal presents challenges due to hardware limitations.
Product Line
Satchwell BAS & SigmaEnvironment

- UNC 532
- Modem
Cause
The UNC 532 controller has shared UART communication ports, which restrict simultaneous use of a modem and a BAS 2800+ terminal when the controller is connected via LAN. This is due to the internal architecture where Channel 3 becomes unavailable in networked mode.
Resolution
LAN-connected configuration:
- Channel 3 is disabled.
- Modem and terminal cannot be used together.
- Refer to the Node Configuration window:
- PL3 = Port 3
- PL4 = Port 2
Standalone configuration:
- Modem and BAS 2800+ terminal can be configured together.
- This setup bypasses LAN restrictions and allows full use of UART channels.
