XS 1300 shuts down during self test

Configured the UPS yesterday and had an unexpected shutdown this morning, so i went into the PowerChute Personal Edition software and ran a self test to see if the UPS is bad. After around a minute or two the computer shut down again. Now once the computer rebooted it still shows the battery charge as 100% and the estimated battery time as 52 minutes so it doesn't seem that the battery is bad. What else could be causing this problem?

Hi there,

May I have the exact model and serial number of the unit which can be seen from a small piece of sticker with barcode. What is the status of the unit when the computer shuts down ( is the LED on, green?solid or flashing? Any audible alarm that you hear from the unit?

BX1300LCD is the model number. There are no alarms. Once the on battery icon starts flashing the computer shuts down. The UPS appears to continue to work.

How long have you been using the unit with this computer attached? What type of computer do you have? Do you know the Wattage draw and VA rating of it? Have you tried using a different device to be attach on the unit while UPS is on battery?

Its an HP ml350 G6. Power usage seems to stay between 85 and 120 watts. We just attached this computer to the UPS as the UPS was in a different division until recently. I double checked and I am connected to the outlet that is backed up.

Hi Stillers21,

I did a research about the model of the computer that you have. If you have used this UPS with a different load and works perfectly fine, we might want to look on the device side, considering some of it's requirements.

I would suggest you to adjust the sensitivity of the unit. You can see from the kbase that I have showed you from the previous reply, one of the possibilities is the transfer time. BX1300LCDs default setting is medium and we might want to change it to high ([See Manual for sensitivity adjustment|http://www.apcmedia.com/salestools/ASTE-6Z7VAU_R0_EN.pdf]). The higher the sensitivity the faster transfer time that we will get. After the adjusting the sensitivity please see if you will still get the same response from the computer once UPS goes to battery.

Please let me know what happens.

Hi Stillers21,

You may want to purchase a smart ups depending on the wattage consumption of your devices to be backed up by the unit.

You may call our trunkline at 800-800-4272 option 2 then option 1 for the reseller team. They should be able to help you out in identifying the part number of the UPS.

If you have further questions, please feel free to contact us again...
