Hi everyone.
I'm an IT specialist for a small business that uses an APC Back-UPS XS 1300 model. It has an LCD display.
As of Friday, it beeps continuously (2 beeps, followed by a short pause, followed by 2 beeps). There are two buttons on the front; a power button and a Display/mute button. When I press the display button it shows that the UPS is online (it displays a male plug with the word "online" underneath it), shows that it is under minimal load (the load graph is empty), as well as cycling through various diagnostics such as voltage in, voltage out, load, etc.
However, this is the strange part. The battery displays as empty (0/4 blocks of charge on the display). When I hold the display button to mute the noise, it will do the following in no specific order:
-It will mute the noise for a few seconds and display a full battery for about 10 seconds. After which, the battery display shows as empty again and the beeping resumes.
-As soon as I press the display button once (IE, cycle through one of the diagnostic stats), it will display a full battery temporarily then resume beeping.
-It will mute the noise until I press the display button again, after which it temporarily displays full battery again.
I am unsure of the UPS age because I started this position recently.
What is wrong with our UPS here? Am I stuck in test mode or something?

My model number is BX 1300 LCD. The serial number appears to be JB07 34008496.
If my battery is bad, where do I get a replacement battery or is it just as cost effective to replace the unit? In this case, is there someplace I can take the unit I have to recycle it?

Hi Everyone,
Recently the APC in our office started beeping, so I googled and found this place.
And with your previous posts, indeed I found the battery is dying and we need to replace it.
But on the APC website, if I search for the user manual for XS 1300, it is actually linked to the manual for BX1300G, are these equivalent models? In the manual, it says to use battery APCRBC124 for BX1300G, but what about for XS1300?
Thanks!

Ahnold,
Could you please let us know the exact Model and Serial number of the UPS? You can find these details on a white bar code sticker at the bottom of the unit. What are the equipment you have attached to the battery backup outlets?

Sorry for such a late response. The issue was a failing battery. We replaced the battery and the device is working again.

Hi Phil,
The [BX1300LCD|http://www.apc.com/products/resource/include/techspec_index.cfm?base_sku=BX1300LCD] requires 1 [APCRBC109|http://www.apc.com/products/resource/include/techspec_index.cfm?base_sku=APCRBC109]. You can call our Customer Care Center at 1-800-800-4272 to order a new battery or a store near your place that sells APC products.
Our price for this battery as of this posting is $79.99, just for the battery shipping and handling is not yet included.

Hi,
If the full modle number is BX1300LCD then the replacement battery is RBC124. If the unit is just BX1300 then the replacement battery is RBC109.

no! I have a BC1300LCD and ordered the RBC124 and the plugs do not match. APC support just tells me that the part I need is the RBC109. So I have 3 of these suckers just arrived that I have to ship back at great expense. I wish their website had a decent place to tell you what parts to order (and for that matter where to find the real model number)
