XS 1300 LCD questions

XS 1300 LCD questions

1) Boost AVR means that voltage will be adjusted UP if it is too low. Will this unit also adjust voltage DOWN if it is too high? (Seems to me that an automatic voltage regulator should do both.)
2) If not, am I advised to put a Line Stabilizer in line before the UPSes?
3) Is there any way to add additional, external batteries to this UPS to increase run time?
4) Is there any way to force the LCD display to stay on longer or stay on constantly?

Thanks!

That would be true in normal AVR boost AND trim situations. This UPS has boost only, no trim.

Hello,

Let me address the questions in the order in which they were asked.

1) Boost AVR means that voltage will be adjusted UP if it is too low. Will this unit also adjust voltage DOWN if it is too high? (Seems to me that an automatic voltage regulator should do both.)
A) This unit will not. This is a child unit of the RS LCD series that is sold directly through APC. The XS LCD which is retail only, does not have AVR Trim.

2) If not, am I advised to put a Line Stabilizer in line before the UPSes?
A) You can, it will not affect the UPS, so long as the VA of the Line Conditioner is larger than the VA of the UPS.

3) Is there any way to add additional, external batteries to this UPS to increase run time?
A) Unfortunately no, the new Back-UPS no longer provide capabilities for external battery pack connections.

4) Is there any way to force the LCD display to stay on longer or stay on constantly?
A) You should be able to go into Dimmer Mode on the display. The outline of that I do not have handy right now, but it is in page 2 of the manual and describes how to do it.

Hello,

The acceptable input voltage range is 114-126. Anything outside of that will force the UPS on battery if no AVR Trim is existant.

#1, No, it does not. Not this model.

#2, No, you shouldn't. Many line stabilizers such as the APC Line R simply transfers between different voltage settings, are not continuously variable and
have a transfer time. The transfer may cause your UPS to hunt between on-battery and on-line. I believe APC also recommends not daisy chaining different power conditioning/protection devices in general.

#3, No

#4, perhaps. You can read the manual here:
