I just purchased a Back-UPS XS 1500 to backup a high end Windows 7 64 bit PC. The display is indicating I am running at an average of 140-180 watts and this UPS is rated 865 watts. On battery I am showing 30 minutes plus of run time. I prefer using the built-in native Windows 7 power management to keep my computer simple and not have too many background services running so I have not installed PowerChute. In the power management setting I have the battery setting with a low level of 10% and to shutdown when I reach this point.
When I pull the power plug I am again showing 30 minutes of run time but my computer is shutting down in about 1-2 minutes. Any ideas why? All indications are I should get much more run time.

Hi Chuck,
I've attached a screenshot on this post. Let me know if this is where you've configured your Windows 7.

I apologize for the inconvenience, something might have happened with my PC when I attached the screenshot. But yes, our screenshots look the same. I just wanted to make sure that the APC UPS is detected by your PC, you can verify this by going to Device Manager. Are you also using the cable that came with the UPS?

I can't see the solution? I have a similar Problem: a Synology ds216j with DSM 7 gets a Low battery Signal from my new Back ups bx1200gr after 2 minutes and shuts down all Services. But: the ups beeps in 30s Intervall indicating sufficient battery power. After reconnecting to power the Diskstation starts and indicates immediately a battery status of 95% - which is realistic. Why did the Diskstation get a low battery signal?
