As you already know, the BE350G is not capable of communicating to your PC since it doesn't have any data port and software support. In your case, when you say that it forces the machine to shutdown do you get any kind of a warning via an audible or visual indicator?

Hi Bunkerfire,

Can you provide the exact model of your UPS as well as if you are using an APC software such as PowerChute Personal Edition?

I have had the same experience with that device, I purchased 10 ES 350 for my office. The only thing the device has to do is provide 10 seconds of power to select workstations until the Generator transfers power. This device seems so unstable I had to unplug all of them I had purchased. They force the machines to shutdown with out notice. I thought it might be a power condition problem in my office but now that I have read someone else is having the same problem I now know I just wasted money depending on the ES 350.

The model "bunker" is talking about is the BE350G, it is a very small device, no software needed for this model.

Well speaking for my own situation, the computers that are using the ES-350 will just shutdown with absolutely no warning. Sometimes the user will mention hearing a few clicks from the device while it shuts off. Other users metion that the device will shutdown the computer and also make the beeping alarm noise. The experience varies from user to user. Like I mentioned, I have several of these small units and have started removing them until I can get in touch with APC support. I started thinking it was the power in my office, but I have ruled that out with testing of lines and circuits. I have decided that something inside the small ES-350 must be bad, and that is a shame becuase it was a perfect sized device to do what I wanted it to do.

See if any of these conditions are present or is causing the problem.

Hey Jonpro, LOL, I've come to the conclusion it is Problem #8 on that list.

Some of the things I have done to try troubleshooting the issue:

I verified that only the computer was plugged into the UPS and nothing else.

I checked the circuits that the UPS was plugged into, to make sure that the wiring in the office was not the problem.

Checked voltage on circuits the UPS was plugged into to make sure that the voltage was in an acceptable range.

I think that there must be a problem with the switching on the device. Out of all of the devices that I have, I think that 40% have a problem and the rest are operating like the normally should.

I purchase all of my ES-350's at the same time from the same vendor. I am looking at my registration PDFs, from when I registed the UPS with APC and it looks like I bought all of them in November of 2009. So they are still very young devices.
