My UPS (APC Back-UPS 650 - BX650LI-MS), which is quite new (bought about 3 months ago, used most days for a few hours at a time but not every day) worked fine for a long time, then suddenly one day developed an issue where on turning it on, it'd click, power up, show green light, give a 2-second long beep, power the attached appliances for a second or two, then immediately shut down. The green light went off, no sound happened, but the on button stayed pressed in.
After it shuts down like this, it then won't turn on - the button does nothing. After leaving it a day or so and trying again, the same thing happens: it turns on, beeps, powers the devices for a second or two then cuts out.
This happens whether its plugged into the wall or not, mains or battery. I've tried it with a variety of devices attached to ensure it's not overload, underload or a device fault (TV, consule, USB charger, lamp) and the same thing happens.
I've looked through the "Status indicators" in the instructions, and nothing sounds appropriate.
What could this be and what can I do to fix it? I'm based in and bought it in Sierra Leone so getting it serviced or replaced won't be easy.
The first time this happened, there was a power blip (not unusual here) causing everything in the house to go off for about a second. Normally, the UPS copes fine with these (this is why I bought it), and there was nothing to suggest it was a power surge (no bulbs breaking or similar), but this time, the UPS just went straight off, and since then has shown this problem.
