I have a UPS Pro 1400 running my Mac workstation. Its been hooked to it for a few years now. This problem is the second time its come about. The first time was year ago.
I shut down my system ever night and in the summer unplug the UPS from the office power. We have a lot of lightning storms and its common to have local bolts hit. I have lost a few trees in the last couple of years. Anyway, the UPS seems to be running fine. In the mornings I plug it in, push the on switch then after it does its text and the light stops flashing I start up the computer.
A few days ago after I shut down the system and turned off the power button on the UPS, everything stayed on even though the UPS was off. The last time this happen, one day it just start working normal again. I have gone through the self test, per the manual and unplugged everything from it for 8 hours trying to recharge it.
No lights are on during this problem, everything looks and works fine, except that the battery is bypassed. Is there a reason for this. I can’t seem to find a fix for it. Do I need a new battery? Or, is there something internal in the unit that is not functioning properly?
Thanks for any assistance,
Rick

Looks like a new unit for me. I’ve had the UPS for 4 years. Maybe I'll look at a trade-up.
Thanks

Well, powering the unit off via the front panel should also kill power to the outlets. This is not going to be a battery related issue. It sounds like something internal is not working properly. That being said, check your purchase date to see if it's within 2 years of purchase. That would put your unit under warranty.
