My UPS, which was purchased Sept. 2011 beeps every two seconds. After silencing the unit, it eventually shut down the whole system (Computer, monitor, speaker, printer, Backup drive, desk lamp) and will not allow computer to power back up. Not knowing if this is a defect or time to replace batteries. I have seen mixed posts that there were a lot of manufacturer defects on this unit and it may not even be made any longer.
So, my question is do I stand a chance of a warranty replacement, coupon towards a replacement battery and/or unit or should just trash this and buy a different, more reliable brand.

Hi,
if the battery is to low the UPS will not power up. The description given sounds like a bad battery. You should check the battery voltage. A good battery should be around 27 volts DC. I have as BR1000G that has been unplugged for 6 month. I check the battery voltage and it read 22 volts DC. The unit did power up. If your battery voltage is lower than 20 volts DC and the UPS will not power up there is a good possibility replacing the battery will correct the issue. If the battery voltage is above 22 volts DC you should replace the entire unit.
APC - Schneider Electric offers a Trade-UPS program where you can trade in the old unit for a new unit at a discount.
