UPS 1300 problems

We have two 1300's, model BX1300g, Both are failed.   One unit fails to switch over to battery when power goes out, it just shuts down. And then when turned on with AC off, it shows an F02 even when nothing is connected to it.  The second unit shows F06 or shows a blinking battery indicator and chirps.

After google searching for APC 1300, it seems that there are a number of similar reports of problems with the 1300.  The old grind, paying to ship it back, invest in another $60 battery, etc. would seem an undue burden on the customer if turns out that the product is of defective manufacture or design.

So, lets take a survey by inviting anyone with a failed 1300 to respond here.    If we have enough responses to make the case, perhaps we can ask APC/Schneider do something more proactive about this.

Hi Dr,

I am sorry you are having issues with your back-ups. The back-ups have a 3 year factory warranty. If they are deemed defective by our tech support team, in North America, we will replace the unit free of charge to you via an advance exchange. This includes a pre paid ARS tag to ship back your defective units. 

If the units are out of warranty and are deemed defective you have the option to utilize our trade-ups program when you can get up to a 20% discount on a brand new unit and a pre-paid shipping label so we can recycle your old unit for you. 

I would call into 1-800-800-4272 with your model and serial number ready. If you haven't come across this yet you can take a look at the description of your faults at the link below on page 6.
