Smart-UPS 1500 self-test causes loss of power when battery is low
We have several Smart-UPS 1500 units that are in use. We like the idea of standardizing on one model. We have found that when the batteries are low, the self test function causes a loss of power to the equipment. I have heard that newer UPS units do not do this. We also have experienced a loss of power due to bad batteries when the UPS did not have any alarms. Apparently in the later case, the battery appeared to be fully charged, but could not handle a load.
Is there an equivalent model that we should upgrade to that will not have the same problem?
Can we depend on a Network Management card to let us know when the battery needs to be changed before we have a loss of power?
Are there any recomendations for what the best solution is?

OK, so newer models are better... Is there a particular model that would be the logical equivalent of the Smart-UPS 1500, or are we just saying that we should buy new Smart-UPS units?
