Shut down multiple computers?

Hi.

I have a BE-550 APC Power back up running Power Chute on one PC.  Wondering the following:

1.  Can the machine being shut down (PowerChute connect via USB to backup), be triggered to alert other PC's on the network to shut down as well?

2. If not in Windows, can it be done form Linux derivatives?

I have  an  APC  and  a  Syber Powar  UPS  both  monitored on the same PC.

You  just  can't  connect  two  APC  Back-Ups  on  one  PC

Michael,

PowerChute Personal Edition (PCPE) is not designed to do that. If you need a UPS that can do that you should purchase a Smart-UPS and use PowerChute Business Edition (PCBE) or add a network card and use PowerChute Network Shutdown (PCNS). Both PCNS and PCBE have the ability to run command files that can be used to send shut down signal to other systems on the network.

Other software options to run command files are APCUPSD or review forum post

http://forums.apc.com/spaces/4/back-ups-surge-protectors/forums/general/7693/powerchute-personal-edi...

Note: running command files from PCPE is not officially supported by Schneider Electric.

Ray,

A Back-UPS XS does not have a port for a network card. You will need a Smart-UPS that accept a network management card.

As for the card it will depend if you require environmental monitoring or not. The AP9630 is a standard network card for a Smart-UPS. The AP9631 includes environmental monitoring. You will find information on both cards at this link

Hello.  Unfortunately your forums.apc.com link no longer works.  Can you send an updated version?

I have (4) desktops that I am plugging into a new BACKUPS 1500VA-S for battery+surge and I am looking for a configuration suggestion.  Two desktops run Ubuntu server (20.4), one runs Windows 10, and the last runs pfSense Firewall router.  Can you suggest which computer should be USB connected to the UPS?  They are all on the same IP subnet so the other 3 computers will run "slave" shutdown software through IP.  Can you recommend which shutdown software should be used (i.e. NUT, APC, etc)?  Thanks!
