Hi everybody,
We have an SC1500 UPS connected to a managed switch (Catalyst 1000 series) with no DHCP service; and we need to connect it to the network using a static IP address to monitor its status.
Is it possible to assign it a static IP address from the switch side? I already tried with arp command to associate its MAC with an IP address, and also added its MAC to the MAC address table, but I still cannot ping the UPS; which means it didn't get the IP from the switch correctly.
arp 10.100.80.191 12ab.47dd.ff89 arpa
mac-address-table static 12ab.47dd.ff89 vlan 1 interface gigabitethernet1/5/0
What am I missing here?
Notes:
- the UPS has only the SmartConnect slot and does not have the NMC card.
- with DHCP, the UPS gets an IP automatically and I can Ping it normally; but with static IP it should be similar but no luck so far.

Please review Schneider Electric FAQ FA321794 "How to set static IP address on SmartConnect enabled Smart-UPS"

@BillP I have checked but it doesn't mention the solution in details; it only says:
""" Depending on the router you will allocate an IP address to a specific mac address or reserve an IP for a specific mac address. See the router user's guide for assistance. """
what is meant by allocate an IP address to a specific mac address?
I have tried with the 'arp' command; and now with "show arp" command I can see that the IP address is associated my MAC address; but I still can not reach the UPS with 'Ping' which means the UPS didn't get the IP address properly.
I know that I'm missing something that could be very clear to most IT people; and I appreciate your help.

You should contact the router manufacture for instruction.
I have a xfinity router. To set a static IP I log into the router, go to connected devices, search for the UPS mac address, click edit and specify the IP address I want assigned.

We are using Cisco Layer-3 switch (Catalyst 1000 series) and it is not that simple; what I did so far is adding the UPS MAC address to the Mac-address table on that interface, and then create an ARP entry to associate the UPS Mac-address with the IP-address; but it does not seem to be working and UPS still not reachable.
So there is no direct way of selecting the device and then changing its IP address manually similar to how its done with a GUI.
Our switch has no IP address configured, that is why it does not have a GUI web page.
Is there is another way of assigning an IP address to the UPS? maybe what I'm doing is wrong
