Hello everyone,
This is my problem... I have recently bought a SUA1000i ups and I noticed some strange thing. When the equipment is shutdown and even when the UPS is turned off by the front switch, the ups sends power to the PC at about every 50 seconds. The PC has an LCD poster and every 50 secs, the LCD flashes. Also, the power led of the PSU flashes. Why is this?
It seems strange to me and I am concerned about my equipment.
Thank you all.

Thank you very much for your response. I don't really have any particular knowledge about UPSs so I wanted to know what is really going on. I tried another PC, which also has a PSU with a power led and as far as i could see, the led did not blink. Swapping the PCs, the first one kept doing the same thing. Would it be a right thought that if there is current leakage (a small leakage maybe, but an existing one) that some capacitors get charged and after a while the system draws power that seems like a flash? The LSD poster of the MB, when the system is turned off, displays the time.
I will call APC here on Greece to tell them about the issue and see what they will say.
Again thank you for your response!

Have you tested this with a different device, like a lamp? Where did you get your unit and what is the serial #? Are you using the unit with proper 230v line to neutral input power?

No I haven't tested it with something else (a lamp I cannot connect because the plug won't fit). Yes, it is connected properly to the wall outlet and self tests pass just fine. It is bought from Greece at a big authorized APC retailer about 1 week ago.
Oh, the monitor that is also connected to the UPS does not seem to have the same activity. That is, when the PC blinked, the monitor was just at stand by. Also, a second time I switched the UPS off and waited for about 3-4 minutes, I did not see the same thing happening, but once it happened it could easily happen again...
UPDATE: The same can be reproduced after all... It seems though that the pattern is not constant, not every 50 secs but rather randomly. I don't understand, why while the unit is turned off, it sends power to the PC...

Okay, well it doesn't sound the issue is necessarily a problem. The monitor is not turning on, which means there is not enough power or the "issue" is too brief. The UPS is still energized when it is turned off, which means it is possible that a very small amount of leakage current or some kind of present voltage is being seen by the computer power supply. Generally this amount is totally negligible and is within UL required rating, but it's possible that the supply is still sensing it. UPS leakage current also shows some interaction/tripping of GFCI breakers so the concept is not unheard of. We do primarily North American support here on the forums, if you would like more detailed local support on your unit I would recommend you call the technical support number for your region/country, which can be found on the APC website.
