A client has an existing SRT1500XLA UPS from 2020 (SN = AS20232...) that has been in play for several years. Couple days ago I replaced the internal Battery for the first time, all was well with that. Right afterwards I installed a brand new SRT48BP External Battery Expansion Pack. However the Main unit simply does not see it. It is brand new (SN = 0H2451...) but despite several attempts the Main unit simply does not see the unit.
I tried upgrading the Firmware on the UPS via the NMC, it takes the file but doesn't seem to do anything. Although I noted the ID on the UPS and the file both say 1025 so guessing it is current. .. I also upgraded the Firmware on the NMC (AP9631) to the latest. That upgrade worked, but no changes. Does not see the unit.
Curious if anyone has any insight on what may be happening. (Or Not Happening)

Show me the information via the NMC under the About: NMC & UPS. Provide a photo of the front and back of both units for review.
Lastly, provide the following logs from the NMC: Event, Data, UPS

Data Logs, front and back pics as well as about screens info. Didn't include event logs as there was nothing there but email and SNMP errors. Even tried doing a test remove and re-attach of the Expansion battery cable but no event registered. No error or anything. Ground cable not currently attached either

This SRT1500 is on a very old UPS Firmware. As such as much as it pains me to say it needs to be updated. π€¦ββοΈ
The FUW (Firmware Upgrade Wizard) will bring the main system to firmware v15.6. Which resolved several extended battery pack issues as seen here:
https://download.se.com/files?p_File_Name=SRT1025_firmware_release_notes.pdf
I have appended the APC Resource link that you need to follow and to obtain the latest FUW:
https://www.apc.com/us/en/faqs/FA164737/
NOTE: Only upgrade the UPS Firmware using the supplied RJ50 - RS232 Serial cable. Do not attempt to flash upgrade the unit via USB / NMC! βοΈ
The extended battery pack must be disconnected at this time.
Once the UPS is on the latest v15.6 firmware connect the extended battery pack.
The SRT1500 will auto detect and immediately update the BCM on the external pack. In some instances you may have to reload the UPS Firmware while the extended battery pack is connected to allow the system to upgrade the extended battery pack.
Insure both RBC cartridges are 100% charged. If in doubt simply insert it into the main SRT1500 system to recharge. Once both RBC cartridges are at 100% SOC (State of Charge) you can begin the firmware update process.
