The LCD screen on the unit does not light with the white light but lights up when the amber and red colours are selected.

I’m not sure what you’re stating or asking?!? If your question is about changing the colour of the LCD you have limited options in the menu to do so.
If the question is (Why) the LCD is displaying yellow / red colour. That’s because there are active faults / errors present and they need to be acknowledged or corrected.
Those problems can be end of life battery needing to be replaced. The unit is running on battery due to power outage / high or low voltage input. If there are temperature / humidity sensors it could indicate out of range limits. If there was a EPO activation upon power up the system will declare that event. There dozens of reasons as to why the LCD would be yellow / red.
Yellow normally indicates a warning. Red indicates a high severity condition that requires immediate attention.
Please restate your question or affirm which of the two statements I made (up above) reflects your problem.
