SMX750 FIRMWARE UPDATE WITHOUT VISIBLE ID

Got a SMX-750 manufactured in Oct 2012 that I would like to update it's actual firmware 09.1 to the latest compatible firmware.

Unfortunately when query through the display on About it only show that the actual firmware is 09.1 and no ID is visible.

When I run the firmware upgrade wizard  it shows the device can be upgraded.

Since I noticed many people had problems when the SMX750 is updated to a higher than the 09.9 firmware what should I do and how can get the link to download the 09.9

Thanks in advance

Re: SMX750 FIRMWARE UPDATE WITHOUT VISIBLE ID

Hi @robmir_apc,

Kindly check if the LCD menu is set to Standard, if it is you can change it to Advanced for you to be able to view additional information about the UPS.  You may refer to the Operations Manual provided below:

SMX750 VA Operation Manual

Regarding your query about the Firmware Upgrade, I personally haven't encountered any issues with firmware 9.9.  Depending on the UPS and accessories that you have, there are different ways to upgrade the UPS firmware such as (a) UPS Firmware Upgrade via the Wizard, (b) UPS firmware upgrade via the NMC, and (c) UPS firmware upgrade via the SmartConnect portal.

Here is the FAQ to now the different ways in upgrading the UPS firmware:

The FAQ provided below will show you the latest firmware released that will work on a UPS depending on the UPS ID and prefix.

Here is a screenshot of what I was able to find for the SMX units.

I hope that the information above would be of help to you.

Re: SMX750 FIRMWARE UPDATE WITHOUT VISIBLE ID

Thanks for your tips but !!!

1) Unfortunately I already checked the menu display between enhanced and standard without any visible ID number at all in any of this two modes.

2) This SMX-750 is running now at firmware 9.1 and I would like to upgrade it  and keep in mind as others noted when this UPS model were upgraded to 10.1 it raised problems like lost of communication through the USB port or through the network card and that's what I want to avoid so I guess firmware 10.2 corrected this problems.

By the way yesterday I hooked it's USB port to a computer running Windows 10 and noticed for a second a message from Windows 10 that it recognized the UPS and was installing the required drivers for this UPS with ID 20 so it SEEMS to be it's ID but the last thing I want to do is brick the SMX-750 with the wrong firmware so I would like to find a way that will confirm which is ID.  I am awaiting the NMC card but I doubt it will provide more precise information from the UPS like the one I have from it's own display.

I manage two SMX-1000 , one SMX-1500  and six SMT-1500 ( all the SMX series have external battery packs)  with their respective NMC and upgraded to the latest firmware ( UPS and NMC)  so this SMX-750 should  be managed and behave like the others !!!!!

Regards

Robert
