SMT3000RM2U 30AMP plug to a 20AMP plug

This was originally posted on APC forums on 1/3/2012

we purchased 4 SMT3000RM2U ups models. when the units arrived i noticed they are specs for 30 amp wiring/breakers. the problem is that the location only has 20 amp wiring/breakers. the switches that will be running off the SMT3000RM2U will not be at full loads anytime soon if ever. can i replace the plugs to a 20 amp type and use until we can get 30 amp wiring done with out any issues for now?

this should help as long as you are aware of local code and understand the limitations in doing it - http://nam-en.apc.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/184
