SMC1500I-2UC and NUT tools. Modbus driver not working

Hi, I have this UPS plugged in via USB to my home Unraid server and it refuses to work with the modbus driver selected. I have Modbus enabled on the UPS (cP1).

The UPS works with usbhid-ups driver but has limited data shown. It doesn’t display any power figures, only battery % and run time. It’s missing all the other figures and data which only appears if ModBus is working.
I asked the question on Reddit thinking it was something with my setup but this expert gave me a raft of questions to ask here or with APC/SE (https://www.reddit.com/r/unRAID/s/3RuZIffp53).

Is anyone able to shed some light on this?

No problem, I would humbly suggest you try a few different options to find a good compromise given the hardware limitations of your specific UPS.

You may consider installing and using APC PCSS software on a local machine. The software supports SNMP but am unsure if you would see any difference in what metrics could be gathered?!? 🤔

Once PCSS is installed and SNMP is set up to send to a local NMS via SNMP. You will see what metrics are available through this protocol.

To affirm what can be seen you can connect the system to the APC Smart Connect Cloud Portal Service.

This will affirm what can be obtained from the system. 👍 If you see the exact (limited) information than that’s all. If you see more than it’s obvious that specific information is being restricted to force the user to pay for a subscription service. 🤦‍♂️
