Backup-UPS RS 1000
PowerChute 2.2
Windows Vista Ultimate 64
Still shows <1m for estimated battery time
I have done a manual test proving that this is not the case.
I can not seem to find a way to tell the UPS / Software that the batteries are indeed new.
I read someting about a battery icon on the COnfiguration / Options page of PC2.2, but no icon exists.
Any help would be great
Thanks Karl

Hi,
I did manual Runtime Calibration as clarkson says, but PowerChute still show Estimate battery time less than 1 min.
After the PC is turn off I plug UPS cable and turn On PC. After battery fully charged nothing happens.
Is there other solution or I did not made manula Runtime Calibration correct?

Hello Karl,
Unfortunately, it was confirmed that this feature was removed from PCPE 2.2. One thing that I would like you to try if you still haven't found an XP machine is to let the UPS run on battery for around 2 to 2 minutes and then plug it back in. Let me know if this one helps.

Good day Karl,
By any chance, do you have an XP machine wherein we can load the PCPE 2.0? I'll check our lab tomorrow if there's a work around in Vista.

Unfortunately, I do not have an xp box. Unfortunately, I do not. It seem strange that APC would take such an obviously needed feature out of their software.

So, I try again run-time calibration but without success. I load UPS with about 260~280W I remove USB cable and remove UPS Power cable and let the UPS to shut off. Switch power cable ON and after about one day plug-in UPS USB cable to PC. But Powerchute still show estimate time < 1. When I must plug-in USB cable before switch ON PC or as I did after one day to be sure that UPS battery is charged?

Hi,
I finally update my UPS status. But I did it when start a Virtual machine with Windows XP and PowerChute 2.0 with have option to update UPS battery status.
Can anybody from APC tell me why they remove option "update battery status" from PowerChute from version 2.2 and higher?

i am not sure why they did but i believe in the PCPE 3.0 release notes, it indicates that issue was fixed...
Fixes in this Release:
•This version resolves an issue that has been reported on BE750G, BR 1300/1500 LCD Back-UPS. Customers experienced communication failures when using these battery backups with PowerChute Personal Edition v2.0 or v2.2.
•Specifically, the system tray icon notified users of communication failure using the balloon notification. The message displayed is "Unable to communicate with APC battery backup".
• With PCPE 2.2, we can't find the button to update battery replacement's date. - This has been addressed in PCPE 3.0_
