Hi there
I own a 1.5 kva APC UPS and using it as a home appliances driver because of power crisis that my country suffers from long time ago !
How should I reduce input voltage sensitivity to minimum, I tried reducing it by sensitivity controller in the rear of the equipment untill the green LED goes almost off .
Since electricity (if available) is noisy and suffering from heavy drop , it turns my system to backup mode .
How should I reduce sensitivity further less ??
Thank you guys.
Majid

For your question , yes , I was able to adjust sesitivity to minimum by rear button , but I want to reduce sensitivity further for reasons I've mentioned lately .
About my question : I'm using APC to energize my PC , ceiling fan (80 W) (it's 50 degree celesious here !) , TV , and sattelite receiver .
For that reason , I'm using two external batteries , 60 AH each in series ,
TV has a voltage range of 110 - 220 v , ceiling fan & receiver is 220 v.
I want to reduce output of apc from 240 to 220 , is it possible ?
I've bought my APC (second hand) from a friend of mine some 2 years ago , it is in a good condition .
Here are two pictures of my APC
Thank you
Majid

Majid,
Could you please let us know the exact Model number of the UPS which appears on a white bar code sticker at the rear of the unit?
Do you have a communication cable that came with the UPS?

Unfortunately, my system is not a genuine one, it's made in Philippines ,the rear bar code sticker is been pulled out since I bought it used ,and at the front panel , the type is (1500UX) .
I have no comm. cable ,but I can find it.
Can I manage it by software using the cable ?or making some adjustment on circuit board ?
What is the benefit of the rear slot (for an electronic card) to attach in?
By the way , I am an electrical engineer .
Thanks

I assume that you have the Smart UPS 1500 VA UPS. APC Smart UPS normally ships with a Serial Cable(part number-940-0024/1524). If you have this Serial Cable, then you can install the Power Chute Business Edition software on your Computer to monitor the UPS. You can adjust the UPS sensitivity as well. Click on the below link to download the PCBE software.

I do not think that you can make adjustment on the UPS circuit board. Secondly, APC does not recommend our Customers to modify the UPS circuit.
The Smart Slot bay at the rear is used to install Smart Slot accessories such as Network Management Card, Interface Expander and other accessories.

Thank you for your concern
It is indeed smart UPS , but I failed downloading power chute software due to law issues , since I live in Iraq .
I've got power chute software , but it was for USB cable , not an APC standard cable .
Than you
Majid

You are welcome Majid!
APC Smart UPS has a manual sensitivity button in order to adjust the Sensitivity manually. Could you please check if your UPS has got the Manual sensitivity adjustment button at the rear?
If it has got the Sensitivity button, please follow the below K-base document to adjust the Sensitivity to Low or Medium.

The UPS sensitivity can be adjusted either through the Manual Sensitivity button or the Power Chute software. If you were able to adjust the UPS sensitivity, then you need not to adjust the UPS sensitivity through the Power Chute again as the UPS sensitivity has been already adjusted.
I am not sure if you can adjust the output voltage of the UPS from 240 Vac to 220 Vac because I do not have any International UPS to test. However, there might be an option to adjust the UPS output voltage through Power Chute software. Once you install the Power Chute software successfully, please let me know the options which you see in the software.

Thank you sir for your patience, and kindness.
I've tried the procedure you've mensioned ( Please refere to my first letter) , i.e , Trying to adjust sensitivity to minimum , that the green LED is almost off , but:
About 90% of home electric power in Iraq is either from low power gasoline generators (2.5kva) , or to be contributed with Diesel generators (about 125kva) , that is spreaded in neibourhood and usually away by about 200 maters from my home , due to that I'm suffering of weak neutral causing power swinging!.
Both sources are not convenient for APC ups's , for that reason I want to reduce sensitivity to minimum.
So is power chute software capable to do that ?.
And how could I reduce backup voltage from 240 v to 220 v , which is Iraqi standard voltage ?
Thank you again
Yours
Majid

Majid,
Yes, you can adjust the UPS sensitivity to Medium or Low through the Power Chute software if it communicates with your Smart UPS. Were you able to adjust the UPS sensitivity manually by pressing the "Sensitivity button" at the rear?
Could you please be more specific regarding the below question which you asked?
how could I reduce backup voltage from 240 v to 220 v , which is Iraqi standard voltage ?
Would you like to adjust the UPS output voltage from 240 Vac to 220 Vac? Where did you buy this UPS? What are the equipment you have attached to the UPS? What is the equipment normal acceptable input voltage range? If possible, could you please send me a picture of the UPS?
