Following my problems with the BX1300LCD, I have just purchased and connected an SUA750 Smart UPS to my computer
Have problems with the installation and configuration utility on the CD.
The CD installs the Windows agent but the help file tells to install also a Server and a Console; where can I find these programs ?
Using a Vista SP2 system; I get a message that the computer is unable to communicate with APC backup
What can I do ?

I finally managed to install properly:
after uninstaling all previous APC sofware and rebooting, the single station installation proceeded without hitch.
Then I had to struggle to access the interface, download and install the JVM plugin
It seems to be work properly
Let's say it is not a simple P&P and the main documentation could be more explicit ans encompass all the steps..

PowerChute Business Edition is composed of 3 modules and they are the Agent, Server and Console. Our Smart-UPS comes with a free one node Agent, in order for our customers to get the Server and Console they need to purchase either the 5-Node or 25-Node Deluxe versions.
Do you have the PowerChute Personal Edition installed on your Vista machine prior to installing the PCBE? If you do might as well try to uninstall it first before using the PCBE. Are you using the APC Back-UPS and Smart-UPS at the same time? What kind of cable are you using to connect your Smart-UPS to the Vista machine?

In addition to what JonPro said, the Power Chute Business Edition Server and Console portions are used to monitor two or multiple Smart UPSs from a console page. So the PCBE Server and Console are used for Centralized UPS monitoring.
If you have only one Smart UPS which you want to monitor, then you do not need to purchase the 5 node version which has Server and Console. The PCBE single node's web interface is sufficient to monitor your single Smart UPS.
Did the PCBE agent software detect the UPS automatically while installing it on your Computer? Are you getting the loss of communication error from the PCBE software? If so, please post a screen shot of the error message.
