Recently was given a BX 1500 LCD by an old friend. It has been sitting for close to a year, un-used. I got no manual, no software. I did plug it in, not attached to any computer, monitor, etc. Although I do not get a "Bad Battery" icon, the Battery Charge icon does nothing but blink and does not ever fill up showing a charge. Actually that is not totally true, as one time I called up the display and it actually should 3/4 of a charge, but when I went back to look at it later, it was back to empty again.
I would guess the battery is bad, but that ICON never lights up either. I did finally find the manual online but what should I do next? New Battery? Will I need software to get the backup to work?

Hi,
The PowerChute software is optional. What the software does is offer graceful unattended shutdown of a Windows OS. Windows also offers built in graceful unattended shutdown. You can find information about Windows Power Option in knowledge base document FA159653. As for the battery, you should follow the troubleshooting steps in the manual to determine if the battery needs to be replaced. Since the unit did sit for a year the possibility is strong that the battery does need to be replaced.
