I was running Serial shutdown v1.2 on my 4 UPS devices. Recently i updated and installed the Serial Shutdown v1.3 on all servers and now 1 of my Smart 1500 UPS devices can't be found by the software. I've replaced the USB cable with a known good cord and restarted the service but to know avail. Still not able to see the device after the update.
Thank you,
RS

Can you try with a clean install? Make sure your UPS is connected during the process (uninstall and re-install). First uninstall the currently installed version of PowerChute Serial Shutdown. And then do a clean install of PowerChute Serial Shutdown v1.3. The connected UPS should be automatically detected.
If the UPS is still not detected then there indeed might be an issue with the UPS. To exclude it's a server issue you could try connecting the UPS to a different server and then install PowerChute Serial Shutdown on it.

I was able to rectify the issue by resetting the APC UPS device. I unplugged the UPS, waited for a minute then plugged it back in. The USB was still plugged into the device but wasn't recognized until I disconnected and reconnected the USB again which then showed up and was able to see it again. I then reinstalled the Serial Shutdown v1.3 software and it sees the device fine now. Resetting the APC UPS device addressed the issue in my case. Standard USB cable I purchased worked fine for this process it seems.
Thanks Fredkm for the advice

This was evidently only a temporary solution. The issue has resurfaced. It started working on 02/11/25 then for no reason it lost connectivity two days later on 02/13/2025. Nothing in the logs other than this...
02/11/25 - Communication Established
02/11/25 - Monitoring started
02/13/25 - Communication Lost.
I can't keep taking the device offline to fix the issue either. Does this mean that my UPS is going bad?
Thanks,
RS-75

UPS firmware upgrade might potentially fix the Communication Lost issue.

Thank you Fredkm,
After your response I searched to see if I missed a firmware update that may fix the issue but unfortunately my model doesn't have updateable firmware.
The device I'm working with is an APC Smart-UPS 1500 (SUA1500) model and according to below article here...
https://www.apc.com/us/en/faqs/FA164737/
It's stated as a non-upgradable firmware model.
Thanks for the information though as I didn't even think about a possible firmware update but it isn't the case in my situation.
