Hi all --
I'm trying to decide between the RS 1200VA & 1300VA. Can someone please help explain the differences? I see the 1200VA has a replaceable battery, the 1300VA seems not to. The 1300VA however seems to output power to the line (sync itself?) while the 1200 doesn't. When would this be useful?
I'm new to UPS purchasing... this is for a home business in the midwest, with spring lightening, thunderstorms, etc. Older house built in the 30's, supposedly the wiring was redone but it's still not as good as I'd like it to be.
I'd appreciate any insight -- quite an important decision and the prices are comparable.
Best--
john.

So the only difference based on what you provided was the input frequency tolerance. In a 120V domestic U.S. environment, it uses either 60 or 50Hz. So they are nearly identical, since anything outside of the +/-3% Hz may potentially be damaging.

John,
The RS1300LCD currently doesn't have a user-replaceable battery sku'd up because it is still within its beginning product life. Any problems with the battery would be examined by APC engineering for an overall UPS failure. The battery will be available after a certain point, so rest assured that if your UPS is out of warranty, you can still purchase a replacement battery for it.
The main difference between the two is whether or not you want the LCD to provide you information. The software will do the same, however, some customers do not implement the use of the software.

Thanks Notorious, do appreciate the insight. Surely there is more to it than an LCD, though. The stats are quite different:
The first is the 1200RA, the second is the 1300RA:
Output Frequency (sync to mains) -- 60 Hz
Crest Factor -- 3 : 1
Waveform Type -- Stepped approximation to a sinewave
Input Frequency 47 - 63 Hz 60 Hz +/- 3 Hz
input voltage adjustable range for mains operation 78 - 152V --
Maximum Input Current -- 12A
Input Breaker Capacity -- 15A
Best--

Johnny,
There only seems to be one set of stats. Did the post edit out the other ones because of spacing?

Notorious,
They're both there, just separated by one space... sorry about that. This is better:
Output Frequency (sync to mains): -- || 60 Hz
Crest Factor: -- || 3 : 1
Waveform Type: -- || Stepped approximation to a sinewave
Input Frequency: 47 - 63 Hz || 60 Hz +/- 3 Hz
input voltage adjustable range for mains operation: 78 - 152V || --
Maximum Input Current: -- || 12A
Input Breaker Capacity: -- || 15A
