Questions about BE750G

Hello,

I am thinking of purchasing several BE750Gs for my HTPCs but I have some concerns.

1) When the PC is in the sleep state (not completely off) and there is a power outage, is it possible to turn off the alarm so that the BE750G never makes any noise (this is important since power loss in my area mostly happens at night for only a few minutes)? Further, while the pc is in the sleep state consuming only 1.5 watts and an outage occurs, I assume that the BE750G will automatically switch to the battery and continue to supply the necessary power until the battery dies? The reason I ask is because I’m not sure how the BE750G works when the software that controls it is inaccessible (since it’s installed on the pc that is asleep, obviously). Also, is it even necessary for the BE750G to always be hooked up to a pc or will it remember the software settings (like no alarm) after the initial setup?

2) If the PC is on and the power goes off, is there an option in the software to put the PC into the sleep state (as opposed to hibernate or shutdown)? This is important since all my HTPCs are hidden away and controlled by remotes. Basically, I want all the PCs to work without ever having to know if there was an outage.

Hello,

By using APC Monitoring Software, you can disable the battery back up alarms. This will stop the battery back up alarms (4 beeps for every 30 seconds) at all times (not only on sleep mode). If you wish to have the battery back up alarms back then you can re enable it again through the APC monitoring Software. Once the settings are made in the initial set up then the settings will get saved even after disconnecting the computer from UPS. It is not compulsary to connect the computer at all times.

Even when the computer in sleep mode the UPS will supply battery power in the event of AC Power outage.

There is no option in APC Monitoring Software to put the computer in sleep mode when the C Power fails.

Hi, thank you for the response.

Another question. Once a power outage occurs and the PCPE software puts the computer into hibernation, does it then wake the computer up when the power comes back on or does it just remain in hibernation (in which case the user has to manually turn the computer back on)?

Lastly, this is a silly question but I want to make sure...can the BE750G be placed side ways against the wall (either vertically or horizontally, in my case, this is to save space inside a cabinet) or is that not recommended?
