Proper way to remove data cable between computer and ups

Greeting Everyone,

I am new to this board and I like what I have read so far. The level of knowledge is impressive.

I have been using a Backup Pro BR1000G since 2015 and it has been connected to my Windows computer with the USB cable and Powerchute personal 3.1. I want to remove the USB cable and uninstall Powerchute but I have tried doing things I am unsure of in the past with mixed results. I am looking for the best way to do this without doing any harm. (Not as young as I used to be)

I also have a new 600M1 I want to deal with but that will be after I get this done.

If you wish to remove the Power Chute software you have a couple of options depending upon Power Chute version and OS in use.

In the start menu you can go to that application folder and select the uninstall icon.

The same can be done on older versions of Microsoft Windows OS: Control Panel -> Add / Remove Programs.

For Windows 10 / 11 I’ve appended the information from Microsoft:

https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/uninstall-or-remove-apps-and-programs-in-windows-4b55f97...

Once the software application has been removed - reboot the computer. Unplug the USB cable before you reboot the system. 👍

If the information provided answers the question please do mark this as solved.

NOTE: Please review the APC FAQ for advanced steps for removal:

Thanks Teken for such a quick response. Sorry I failed to include that I am using Windows 10 Home. I am going to assume that using the uninstall folder in the Power Panel program would be the best. Everything else you said was very easy to follow. I was worried about usb connections and the like. After I finish this I will address my thoughts on the 600M1.

Thanks again and nice meeting you.
