The company bought 6 'Back-UPS Pro 1000', Model Number: BR1000G
'Power Chute Personal Edition' was used to set the UPS's to put the attached computers in hibernation after 5 minutes without AC.
AC fails.
5 minutes later the computer goes into hibernation
Approximately 2 minutes later the UPS goes into sleep mode
If AC is restored before the UPS goes into sleep mode, the computer recovers from hibernation and then crashes when the UPS goes into sleep mode
If AC is not restored until after the UPS goes into sleep mode, the computer will recover from hibernation with no problem
Unfortunately, we can't know when power might be restored
QUESTIONS:
1) Is there a way to make the UPS not go into sleep mode if the AC returns quickly?
2) If question 1 is not possible, is there a way to turn off UPS sleep mode?
3) Alternately, is there a way to make the delay between Computer Hibernation and UPS Sleep Mode just a few seconds?

Hi,
We were having the exact same issue, when we were testing for a customer's APC UPS. We will give this a shot tomorrow, and hopefully everything works out as advised.
It is strange that APC would design something so dependant on the presence of ground. There are a few scenarios where ground may not be present, and the UPS will not function as it is supposed to. Design flaw, in our opinon, unless there is specific reasoning for it, which escapes us. Feel free to enlighten us. : )
Looking forward to testing this, using a power bar instead of yanking it from the wall.
Thank you for posting the question and answer.
We will post back with our results.

I have already been notified by email help that there is nothing APC can do to help me.
I am using industrial computers that boot up when power is applied.

Ben,
The OS should not be restarting until it see AC has been removed and restored. That is why the UPS has a sleep timer. What Windows OS are you running? What is a serial number of 1 of the Back-UPS? How are you testing this? Are you unplugging the UPS from the AC source and then plugging it back in to simulate the outage? Also, what is/are the BIOS settings for power restore?
To answer your questions, no. There is now way to change the UPS sleep timer using PowerChute.

We are running Windows 7.
SN: 3B1423X11905
I am unplugging the UPS and plugging in.
Chipset\PCH-10 Configuration\Restore AC Power Loss
Not sure what other BIOS settings you might need
Apparently, it is seeing AC removed and restored.

Ben,
Run your test again but instead of having the UPS plugged into a wall outlet plug it into a power strip. To kill the power to the computer turn the power strip off. Wait for the computer to shutdown then turn the power strip back on. The system should stay off until the UPS kills power to the outlets and then restores the power. What I think is causing your hardware to reboot is when you unplug the UPS you break the ground and when you plug it back in ground is re-established. The power supply senses the changed when ground is re-established and starts the system back up.

Hello
Are you sure that your unit is working? I lost a year trying to configure it and it still does not work as desired - exactly what you describe in your first post is happening to me too. I recommend you to double-check and return the items while you still can as they really do not work. Get Cyberpower or something - cheaper and better.
