I received a notification last night that my Powerchute software was out of date and needed to be updated with 3.0.2. My old installtion was working great and had no problems communicating with the XS1500 UPS (bought 6 months ago at COMPUSA). After updating the software, I am now getting "Unable to communicate with UPS". I have moved the USB cable around to different USB ports on the back of the PC, and nothing fixes this problem.
What changed with the new version of Powerchute that prevents my PC from talking to the UPS?

The PC detects the UPS. The older version of the software told me in a popup from the toolbar that there was a newer version. So, I let it load it.
Now, I think I have found the problem. The uninstallation did not remove the older version toolbar icon (which was reporting the it could not communicate with the UPS) after the software was updated to 3.0.2. I found out the older icon was still there and the new icon had not been installed on the toolbar. After removing the old icon and installing the new icon, all seems to be well. I think someone missed that in the update scenario?
Thanks for your help!

Hi Art,
The changes that I am aware with the release of PowerChute Personal Edition v3.0.2 is the support for the additional nine (9) languages aside from English. It also fixes the issue with regards to User Account Controls. I have seen as well that this software has been tried on several APC UPS models and one of them belongs to the same family like yours.
How were you able to install PCPE 3.0.2, was it done thru update or did you perform an uninstallation and reinstallation? What was the previous version of PCPE do you have on your PC and the operating system that you were using? Can you also check if your PC detects the UPS as an APC UPS or a different one?
