Why should I install PowerChute software?

I have an external HD running that performs auto backup every day, in addition to the Microsoft's autobackup feature.

I have a 3 in 1 printer/fax/scanner and a Cisco wireless network router connected to the UPS. I don't see any advantage to running this software too. Any help????

the software is for monitoring purposes (UPS status information) and then it also performs a graceful, unattended shutdown on the operating system its installed on and connected to if you connect the USB data cable to the computer.

it is not required if you have no computer you want to gracefully shutdown or if you don't want to monitor the UPS (or maybe it is an LCD model that provides status info).
