You can either switch off the UPS or leave it on when the Computer is not in use. In this situation, I would switch off the UPS as I do not want my UPS to make battery backup alarms during power failure/or any power problems when I do not really need the UPS. For your information, the UPS can charge its battery whether it is on or off when it is plugged in.
