I have the APC UPS BE750G and Windows XP. I installed the software and tested the software by unplugging the UPS and allowing the UPS software to hibernate the computer. I then plugged the UPS into the AC outlet and restarted the computer. I have a RAID 5 configuration with 3 500GB HD's. When the computer restarted, the message in the lower right of the taskbar showed that the RAID drive was initializing. This only happens when I have lost power in the past and have restarted the computer. The process takes about 24 hours and the computer hardly responds at all during the initialization. It appears that the UPS is NOT hibernating the computer, but the effect is the same as if I were to just unplug the computer from the AC outlet. Any suggestions as to what is happening or how to correct this problem? Thanks very much.
Ron

Ron G,
Let me collect some more information from you to understand the issue.
Is the UPS powering the Computer in question fine when it is plugged in?
May I know the version of the Power Chute software which you have installed on your Computer? Is the APC UPS Service running fine on your computer?
What is the UPS runtime showing on software?
There are two Power Strategy settings available in the Power Chute Personal Edition software. They are: 1. Preserve my battery power, 2. Keep my computer on as long as possible. Which option and time you have selected?
How long is the UPS running the Computer in question when it looses power from the wall outlet? Could you please post a screen shot of the error message? If Possible, provide me the below details:
Type of mother board
Processor
Available disk space
RAM
Type/Model of USB Host controller

Ron G,
My advice for you is to make sure that the Hibernation option is enabled in Windows XP in order for the Power Chute Personal Edition software to shutdown your Computer gracefully in the event of extended power failure. Please make use of the below K-base document to enable the Hibernation option in Windows XP.

I hope that it helps.

Oops, sorry I thought I had covered tat but I see I didn't. Hibernation is enabled in the power options. Still doesn't hibernate. And I am still waiting for the RAID volume to initialize so I can't use the desktop but it's now up to 88% so maybe in a couple of hours it will be working again. Thanks,
Ron
