Hi,
I got a second hand APC BACK-UPS RS BR800i and thought it would make a nice addition to my existing one.
The only problem is that the UPS isn't working. After turning on the self test is performed and finished with an endless beep and a flashing Overload LED. Which is a bit strange because nothing (except the power cable, to load the UPS) is connected to it.
After turning the UPS off it takes only a few seconds and all four LEDs start to flash at the same time.
The parachute software told me to replace the battery (older then 3 years) and that I have to remove some load because of the overload.
I checked the overload button, but it doesn't feels like it was released. Never had this experience, but I am right that it is still in place.
I also switched the batteries between both UPS, and that also didn't made any difference.
So any idea what is going on?
Bye AssetBurned

Hello my friend.
I have in total 6 of this types of ups-es BR800I and it seems that this type of problem is common sometimes even to my case.
I sugest that maby some electronic part inside of the ups shoul be defective.
You'll have to chek by your self the components inside the ups or by the help of an engineer.
The part responsible for this should be the dc-ac converter (inside the schematic diagram) or some problems with the wiring.
Have a look by your self. I am going to post you even the schematic diagram.
Ceers and happy new year.

Hi AssetBurned,
If the UPS is showing overload with nothing attached it may be an internal fault. A good test would be to turn the UPS off, remove any attached equipment and unplug it from the wall. From there just turn the UPS on and it should power up on battery. Then plug it in and put the load back on it and see what the software is reporting. If at anytime during this the fault returns I would suggest contacting tech support. I see your in Germany so the contact number should be 😧 0800 1010067.

Hi,
thanks! I will call the support ASAP, but I guess the UPS is already out of warranty. I mean if the battery is older then 3 years (according to powerchute) then that will be most likely true.
So I bet on the fact, that APC want to have a lot of money to fix the UPS.

ps. if someone went to the same problem before, please write down your experience. I will do the same.
