Cannot find what the double chirp means
Power Chute shows time available on Battery, but "on AC", desktop and screen OK on AC supply. Batteries individually multimetered no load at 13.5 v. LCD says Battery not connected, empty battery bar, no time left, circuit breaker not tripped, no fault number shows. Low battery never indicated by audible alarm. Read many forum entries, one suggested "brain-dead" disconnect/reconnect, tried, no success.
I think the unit must be well over guarantee. Model number BX 1300 LCD-CN Serial JB0733001797

Thanks for taking the time to follow up with us on this Donald and to explain what you found as a solution. Usually when you have a disconnected battery, it can be because it is physically disconnected or because the battery itself cannot be "seen" by the UPS (either because of the UPS or the battery). I am not sure how that is determined beyond voltage though but I am glad you got the correct solution and can continue using the unit.

Hi Donald,
The braindead would be the recommendation as the "chirp" is an indication of a battery disconnect issue. How old is the battery that is installed in the unit? Voltage measured on the battery is not always a sign of a good battery if it is rather old although that was a good thing to measure. Looking at your serial number, the unit is just about 8 years old and would be out of warranty unless extended warranties were purchased. This issue could be due to the battery or unit itself and my recommendation would be to trade the unit in for a new one for a discount rather than purchasing a battery for an older unit (and this might not correct the issue if it is a problem with the unit).
Regards,

Thank you for the reply. I was beginning to think a fuse might be blown, but the battery leads show voltage present. Is it worthwhile to check the battery voltage under load? Is a trade-in possible on the XS 1300? If so, how do I go about it?
Thanks for your help.

Have now had time to dig a little deeper, found one battery seemed fine, the other shows 13 v even when I try to get a little spark between terminals ( I got none, seems dead even if showing 13v. Maybe the terminal is faulty, passing voltage reading but no current. I am going to order a battery kit (2x12v9ah/t2), taking a chance, but feels safe. If wrong, I will be out $40 or so.... Oh well....

I got my hands on a 12V battery to stand in for the bad one, UPS came up alive and well.
Turns out the double chirp every two seconds was saying "Bad battery" (only one was bad, so maybe it was"Low Voltage"?)
Someone should have run across this symptom? One to keep in mind for another time...
Thanks just the same for the responses.
Edit - Can someone close this please?
