Newbie questions about audible alarms

I need to buy a UPS to go with my Netgear ReadyNAS. The ES 550VA and 700VA look like the best bets, so I'm likely to buy one of those. However, I'm concerned about the alarm noise. I live in a terrace house and keep my ReadyNAS in the attic, so that's where the UPS will go. If the alarm is noisy, and power is cut, and I'm not at home, I worry that my neighbours will be subjected to the alarm during the night. Indeed, I don't particularly want to be woken up if the power is cut during the night 🙂

I'm curious to know how loud the alarm is, would it be likely to disturb people, and is there a model available where the alarm can be customised or switched off?
