HELP!
I am completely new to forums...but I am also sick of replacing my UPS, so here goes:
I bought my first UPS and it lasted 3 years. The second lasted a year. The third lasted 2 years. I recently (1-2 months ago) bought an XS 1300. Well, the battery replacement indicator is on already. I went way overboard on this model, as I only have an 8 year-old desktop, 17in CRT, 4-in-1 unit, and a few other small loads on it. How in the world can the battery be dead? I ran a self-test, and it confirmed my suspicion that there is no life left in this battery.
Anyone want to comment here? Should I bring it back to Circuit City? Should I APC replace the battery? If so, how do I go about that? What do I do in the mean time (no smart-alec answers, please)?
Thank you.
PS Please forgive me if I passed up a similar post that would answer my question. I tried to search for this problem, but never found an post that fit.

Thanks,
Worst case scenario is you can call back in using the case # that you provided and just link them to the troubleshooting on this thread. That will be sufficient enough to render an RMA. This would be an entire unit RMA as engineering would want to take a look at the unit as a whole to see why the battery failed so early.

Have you disconnected the load and allowed the UPS to charge with no load attached for 8-10 hours?
Are you using software? If so, what's the software report the battery capacity at?
What's the display on the LCD report the battery capacity at?
If you plug in only a 100W lamp, how long does the UPS last on battery?

No. I will try that overnight.

APC PowerChute Personal Edition v1.2
41% Battery Capacity
Estimate Battery Time less than 1 minute
Battery in unit needs to be replaced
What's the display on the LCD report the battery capacity at?
Estimated Run Time is 0
Battery has 2 of 5 bars
Load is 100watts, or 25% of capacity
If you plug in only a 100W lamp, how long does the UPS last on battery?
I will try that tomorrow when I get off work.
I called and got a case # since this looks to be a warranty claim. In case it helps, it is C1-714465859.
I will post once I try the charge and the 100watt lamp.
Thank you.

K.M.P. - I let the unit charge over 9 1/2 hours. It still came up needing to be replaced. All the data is the same.
I did not try the lamp test yet. I will try to soon.
