I used an ES700 to replace another UPC ( RS800 ) which signaled 'end of battery life'. luckely i still had an ES700 brandnew in the box, altough it had been on the shelf for 5 or 6 yrs. I got the ES700 at the same time as the RS800 but had no need for the ES700 at the time. When i unwrapped it , i connected the lead to the battery and started the unit up. it gives a continuous tome while the red light flashes. It won't stop till you switch the unit off.
What is the cause, is it the battery has been without power too long ??? can i still charge-up the unit (ignoring the long loud beep), wil it stop eventually and would i be able to use it after 16 or so hrs??

APC Batteries should be charged to 100% within 6 months of purchase. Anything longer than that, the battery will need to be replaced.
